The XI ITF Junior Costa del Sol 2024 at the Bel-Air Tennis and Padel Club in Estepona continues to be an international benchmark.
Last weekend, we had the privilege of sponsoring the 11th edition of the ITF Junior Costa del Sol – Estepona 2024 International Tournament.
This tournament, endorsed by the International Tennis Federation, represents a valuable commitment to promoting young talent in high-level tennis. In it, players have the opportunity to climb the ITF ranking and take significant steps toward their dream of becoming professional tennis players.
Throughout its 11 editions, this tournament has witnessed the rise of young athletes who later excelled on the professional circuit, such as:
- Roberto Bautista (champion in 2005), currently ranked No. 23 in the ATP rankings, Davis Cup champion, and former world No. 9.
- Silvia Soler (winner in 2003), who reached the No. 177 position in the world rankings.
- Thomas Fabbiano (champion in 2004), who achieved a ranking of No. 147 in the ATP.
- Alejandro Manzanera, semifinalist in 2020, who later became the Wimbledon Junior doubles champion.
- Martín Landaluce, finalist in 2020 and winner of the Junior U.S. Open 2022, who now holds the No. 1 spot in the ITF Junior rankings.
The tournament took place from September 16 to 22 at the magnificent facilities of the Estepona Bel -Air Tennis Club.
The winners were: In the women’s singles, Ha Yoon Son (KOR) defeated Sofia Iakukhina (RUS) with a score of 7/5, 6/3, and in the men’s singles, Maxi Carrascosa (ESP) triumphed over Charlie Valentine (NED) with a score of 6/3, 6/4.
In the doubles category, the pair of Ariadna García-Patrón Canals (ESP) / Ha Yoon Son (KOR) won against Alexia González Galino (ESP) / Elena Karantali (GRE) with a score of 6/2, 6/4. In men’s doubles, the duo of Charlie Valentine (NED) / Oliver Sanders (CZE) defeated Marcos Alogo Piqueras (ESP) / Olav Berg (NOR) with a score of 6/4, 6/4.
